Job Description

WSC Business Solutions is looking to recruit an Accountant to support its growing company in Katy, TX. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who possess the skills and acumen to work both operationally and strategically. This role is a Temp-To-Hire position.

Accountant responsibilities revolve around the financial well-being of the company and its clients and making sure finances are being managed responsibly and accurately.

Duties include organizing and keeping track of all financial debits, credits and other important financial information for WSC Business Solutions and it’s clients (both domestic and international). The accountant handles balance sheets, preparation of financial statements and tax reports as well as preparing state and federal taxes. This includes cash flow and preparing profit and lost statements along with monthly closing and cost record and devising a budget and financial plan that works for the company and/or its special needs.

Accountant must be proficient with computer software programs relating to finances, accounting and reporting. The Accountant position is responsible for researching and analyzing accounting data and providing financial information to management in various manners including the creation of reports.

Accountant will review financial reports by checking and double checking all aspects of the reports and will design and conduct audits and support external audits to ensure finances are in order. You must investigate and resolve any discrepancies that arise or are discovered in the finances of the Company by implementing solutions to correct any such issues. This includes reviewing accounting procedures to determine how effective they are and to confirm the accuracy of all procedures being followed, and making and implementing changes that will benefit the company when necessary.

In performing your duties all laws and regulations must be followed precisely. This requires you to have full knowledge of and remain updated on all applicable laws, legal requirements and deadlines to ensure the proper handling of all tax and reporting related issues. In addition, you have the ethical responsibility to be honest and discreet when handing funds and keeping all information confidential.

Ideal Candidate must be able to:

  • Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Document financial transactions by entering account information
  • Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
  • Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Secure financial information by completing data base backups
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls
  • Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or University in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ of accounting experience, experience working with multi-entity companies desired
  • Experience working with manufacturing/construction companies a Plus
  • Experience with ERP systems (Xero, Sage 50 and/or Sage 300 a Plus)
  • Experience handling intercompany transactions, consolidating entities, and setting up accounting features for companies in ERP system A MUST
  • Experience with personal and business tax returns A MUST
  • Proficient in tax review/preparations, research and planning
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent computer knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Motivated self-starter able to handle a wide array of responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Able to meet engagement deadlines efficiently with complete and accurate product
  • Excellent Time Management skills, able to work Independently
  • Bi-Lingual in English/Spanish highly desired
  • Ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit with the willingness to contribute to the success of the company

Additional Information

$40K-$45K, commensurate with experience
